1.1. Scientific Endorsement is understood as the recognition of quality granted by the CIR to academic, educational and scientific activities organized by third parties, as well as to professional documents, books or other materials of interest to radiology, whose requesters ask the College for permission to explicitly publish such certification.

1.2. Among others, the following activities and documents may apply for Scientific Endorsement: congresses, conferences, courses, seminars, webinars, workshops, continuing education programs, hybrid activities, simulation activities, books, strategic positioning documents or other professional documents within the field of radiology.

1.3. The Quality Seal is the graphic image that the CIR authorizes the organizing entity, or the authors or editors as applicable, to include in the documentation of the endorsed activity or document. Its use is reserved exclusively for endorsed activities and documents, may not be modified in its proportions, colors, resolution or authorized versions, and will be available in the CIR's three official languages: Spanish, Portuguese and English.

1.4. The Scientific Endorsement will be valid only for the specific edition of the event or document for which it was granted.

1.5. The Scientific Endorsement is non-transferable and may not be assigned or used by third parties, nor applied to an activity or document other than the one for which it was granted.

1.6. The granting of the Scientific Endorsement does not imply institutional support for specific commercial products, brands, sponsors or technologies.

2.1. The association or entity organizing the academic event, as well as the authors or editors of professional documents, must send an official letter of request including the name of the event, place and date, format and details of the scientific program, along with all supplementary information that helps assess the suitability and quality of the activity, in accordance with ANNEX 1.

2.2. If the endorsement is requested for a professional document, information will be required regarding the title of the document, editors, authors, year of publication, edition, pages, and ISBN if applicable; in addition, professional documents must be attached to the request, and in the case of books, a sample chapter must be sent for review.

2.3. The association or entity organizing the event, as well as the editors of the documents, must attach an official communication from the Society or Association representing the CIR in the country where the academic program will take place or the publication will be issued, explicitly stating its approval and support for the event or document for which the Scientific Endorsement is requested. Without approval from the Society or Association of that country, no application may be approved.

2.4. Applications must be received by the CIR at least three months prior to the date the event takes place.

2.5. The entity organizing the event, or the publisher of the document, for which the Scientific Endorsement is requested must record its acceptance to make an economic contribution to the CIR, under the terms established in ANNEX 2 of this regulation.

2.6. Any relevant modification to the program, teaching staff, format, dates, venue, sponsors or academic content must be promptly communicated to the CIR for review.

3.1. The CIR will evaluate the applications and reserves the right to approve or reject them.

3.2. The review of applications may be carried out by those responsible for the SIRCAI program when deemed necessary due to the complexity of the process; they will issue a written report. The final decision will be made by the Board of Directors.

3.3. If anyone involved in the evaluation process has a relationship with the organizers or editors of the activity or document for which the endorsement is requested, they must declare their conflict of interest and abstain from participating in the decision.

3.4. The CIR will have a maximum period of thirty calendar days to respond to the application, counted from the complete submission of the required documentation.

3.5. Approval may be granted both for events held in person and in virtual or mixed format. In the latter cases, the application must specify everything related to the operational aspects and duration of the program. In the case of documents, it may be requested both for printed materials and for those disseminated in digital format.

3.6. For the granting of the Scientific Endorsement, the Board of Directors will assess, among others, the following criteria:

• Scientific quality.
• Timeliness and quality.
• Experience of the teaching staff and/or authors.
• Academic independence.
• Absence of commercial bias.
• Relevance to radiology.
• Regional impact.
• Track record of the organizing entity or editors.
• Declaration of conflicts of interest.
• Relevance to professionals in the region.

3.7. The organizing entity will ensure that professors, organizers, members of the scientific committee, editors and authors declare their potential conflicts of interest when applicable.

3.8. If the endorsement is denied, the organizers or authors will have one week to submit supplementary information for reevaluation. A second denial will be final and not subject to appeal.

4.1. The use of the Quality Seal is the only right associated with the granting of the Scientific Endorsement.

4.2. Any other service or benefit that the organizing entity or editors wish to request from the CIR in connection with an activity or document deserving of the Scientific Endorsement must be requested separately, in accordance with what is stated in ANNEX 2 of this regulation.

4.3. The Quality Seal may only be used by the responsible organization in the official documentation of the endorsed activity or document, in printed, digital or online format.

4.4. The Quality Seal may not be used by institutions or organizations other than the organization or publisher responsible for the request, and may only be used for those activities or documents for which the Scientific Endorsement has been formally issued. Under no circumstances may rights be granted to third parties that infringe on the property rights of the Interamerican College of Radiology.

4.5. This regulation prohibits the use of the name, acronym, institutional logo and Quality Seal of the CIR by an Association, member Society, Publisher or third party to promote or validate academic activities or documents of other origin, except in special situations specifically and expressly approved in writing by the Board of Directors, in exercise of the property rights held by the Interamerican College of Radiology.

4.6. The CIR will not be responsible for the issuance of certificates, attendance control, evaluations, or the academic content delivered by the organizing entity.

5.1. The CIR may revoke the Scientific Endorsement when any of the following circumstances occur:

• The information submitted in the application is false or inaccurate.
• The program or content of the work changes substantially without prior notice to the CIR.
• There is improper use of the Quality Seal, the name, the acronym or the institutional logo of the CIR.
• The conditions established in this regulation are not met.

5.2. Revocation will be decided by the Board of Directors and formally communicated to the organizing entity, which must immediately suspend any use of the Scientific Endorsement and the Quality Seal.

BENEFITS AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE CIR ASSOCIATED WITH THE SCIENTIFIC ENDORSEMENT

Contribution associated with granting the Scientific Endorsement

• Contribution to the CIR of an economic amount that will be updated annually at the CIR Assembly for the following year (in 2026, US$200).
• Registration scholarships to the endorsed activity for CIR radiologists from countries other than that of the organizing entity (minimum of five).
• Free-access activities, with no fee, will be exempt from any economic contribution.
• Activities organized directly by CIR member Societies will be exempt from an economic contribution.
• Activities organized by entities that have an agreement with the CIR will receive a fifty percent reduction in their economic contribution.
• In the case of books or other professional documents offered for sale, the publishers will guarantee a specific discount for CIR members, in addition to any other eventual promotion.
• The Board of Directors may authorize duly justified exceptions with respect to the economic contribution.

Supplementary request for dissemination of the activity

• Organizers of activities or editors of publications endorsed by the CIR who require assistance in disseminating the event or document must request it specifically and separately.
• Granting the Scientific Endorsement does not imply automatic acceptance of the dissemination request.
• The CIR will not actively and directly disseminate activities whose schedule may conflict or compete with its own activities.
• The corresponding rates will be updated annually at the CIR Assembly for the following year and will be scaled based on the type and number of dissemination actions agreed upon.
